Wildflower hunting is one of my favorite things to do in the spring. I will often go down to Cove Lake State Park in March and April to see how many of my "beauties" I can find. When I found the subject of this painting, I was walking down one of the back trails not often taken. The flower was nestled back into a spot between two bushes, and I walked by it the first time, but on my way back, I noticed the buds, jumping out against the green background. I spent a good 5-10 minutes just looking at it and taking pictures of it before I had had my fill of it.
